modest

adjective

1. having or showing a moderate or humble estimate of one's merits, importance, etc.; free from vanity, egotism, boastfulness, or great pretensions.

2. free from ostentation or showy extravagance:

3. having or showing regard for the decencies of behavior, speech, dress, etc.; decent:

a modest neckline on a dress.

4. limited or moderate in amount, extent, etc.:

Modesty seems to be a big topic among Christian girls.  Parents talk about it, youth group leaders, pastors, the media (on the flip side), etc.

I have an 11 year old daughter and I'm often surprised to see what's being sold as cute and trendy.  How can we dress and still glorify God?

I also realized that a lot of questions pop up about why modesty is so important.  (I questioned it for a really long time myself.)  Eeek!  Scripture doesn't go into every detail; it doesn’t talk about skirt lengths or how tight is too tight ~ but it does give general principles on how to live a Godly life; to be modest and have self-control.

You may feel comfortable wearing a teeny tiny mini skirt, but chances are, it is causing a brother around you to stumble... (which makes it incredibly hard to shop, I know!)

Check out one of the things God says about this subject:

I Timothy 2:9 "Likewise, I want women to adorn themselves with proper clothing, modestly and discreetly..."

It's about your heart, loving Jesus and your neighbor as yourself.  Walk with Jesus daily and you'll do great!
